He has reprogrammed a first-person shooter video game engine to demonstrate interactive spinal anatomy and surgical technique to patients. Donald Stewart is a Board-Certified and Fellowship-Trained foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon. Todd Stewart is a board-certified Neurological Surgeon focusing exclusively on spinal surgery. Stewart continues to use novel 3D computer modeling of the spine as an educational tool for patients, doctors, and nursing staff.

He uses minimally invasive approaches where appropriate. He also has an interest in spondylolisthesis and radiculopathy of the lumbar spine. He received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1996. Stewart performs all aspects of spinal surgery, however, he has a particular interest in cervical spine (neck) surgery for radiculopathy (pinched nerve), myelopathy (pinched spinal cord), and kyphosis (abnormal alignment of the neck). In addition to his clinical duties, he performed research, taught residents and fellows, and lectured nationally and internationally. During this time, he worked at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, a level 1 trauma center, and gained great experience in complex trauma, tumor, and degenerative cases of the spine. The Steward lab has research interests in the Toll-Dorsal (NF-kB/Rel) pathway functioning in establishing dorsal-ventral polarity in the early Drosophila. Stewart was on faculty at Washington University for 10 years where he was an Associate Professor of Neurological and Orthopedic Surgery.
